This post will be about my research on boutique hotels.
The simplest definition of a boutique hotel is “a small, sophisticated, and fashionable business or establishment“. (Giulietta, 2024) Boutique hotels are mainly for people who travel for a short time and want a personalised experience during their stay. The boutique hotel interests me because of its size and the difference in experience compared to a typical hotel. The main reason behind this is that boutique hotels have better quality control, ensuring the guest experiences a comfortable stay.
The attention to detail in these hotels' design makes them unique. Boutique hotels are usually made to be one-of-a-kind (WOOLF, 2023) and with that being stylish and trendy. Their designs are more towards elegance and luxury, but the prices are still reasonable.
This is suitable for my project as the location for it is in Dubai. A developing country where there are a lot of travellers and tourists passing through. Also, Dubai is known for its elegance and luxury country in the United Arab Emirates (Lauren, 2024).
For example, I am researching the Morgen & Mees in Amsterdam. It has nine rooms and is located within a beautiful, traditional house in West Amsterdam. Although it is tiny, this boutique hotel still has an in-house restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. (Giulietta, 2024)
This inspired my project, as the number of rooms in my project is similar to Morgen & Mees. Despite having fewer rooms, this can ensure that hotel management elements such as cost, cleaning, and customer service can be controlled to a higher quality. These properties that Morgen & Mees has are what I want to have in my own project. These elements can attract visitors who wish to have a personal stay throughout their visit. The financial management will also be better controlled compared to a standard hotel. With fewer visitors, there will be no reason to hire many employees to work in the hotel. Thus, some profit can be used to improve the hotel's interior. This will result in a more comfortable environment for the guests. Morgen & Mees provides a restaurant inside their hotel. I will also have a restaurant for my project on the ground floor since it is proven to make the guest's experience more convenient and personalised (Giulietta, 2024).
The reviews on Morgan & Mees have been mostly positive, so I would like to use the elements that Morgan & Mees have and incorporate them into my project.

Would be good to hear more about the Morgan Mees design - you have looked at a lot of sources here, but not much evidence of deep research in your text - it's all very surface.
ReplyDeleteThis is very low level in terms of the depth of your research. There should be more about what you discovered about this example and how it impacts on your project.
