Week Two: Creating an Advertisement

What makes a good design?

Dieter Rams, an industrial designer, defined good design as making a product practical and understandable, innovative, aesthetically pleasing, inconspicuous, honest, lasting, thorough in every aspect, ecologically friendly, and requiring the least amount of design as feasible. Good design is what designers aim towards.

ROYALTY FREE MEANS..

- photos that fall within royalty-free photos have particular permission. Once a royalty-free image is licensed, people and organisations can use it as much as they like without needing to renew the license.

Describe typography

- Words and phrases are visually represented through typography. To produce aesthetically beautiful banners, billboards, signs, magazines, and other printed materials, it combines visual design concepts, typeface, lettering, colour, and other components of print writing.

"Typography is the detail and the presentation of a story. It represents the voice of an atmosphere, or historical setting of some kind. It can do a lot of things." (Cyrus Highsmith) 

What is the meaning of the targeted audience?

-A collection of people characterised by particular demographics and behaviours is known as a target audience. Businesses frequently use their knowledge of their target market to develop user personas. Their choices for marketing initiatives are influenced by these characters.

The images above are the images that I used to make some of my first adverts. I like this image from the website Unsplash cause it shows multiple perspectives of each unique building. The design and the colour of the photos really caught my eye.

ADVERTS




The adverts above were the first few I created during this week's session. The tutor asked the class to make simple adverts using Pixle R. The adverts are our name, our primary and the skills needed for our major. I find this week's session very interesting, and I am confident that I can make more of my adverts better and more complex.

For this post, I will share my research about the national flower of The United Arab Emirates, the Tribulus Omannense. I will create a boutique hotel in Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai, for my project. I will symbolise the country with the nation's flower, Tribulus Omannense. Since a boutique hotel is targeted at travellers, the concept of my hotel is inspired by the flower. Tribulus Omanense is a small flowering plant in the Zygophyllaceae family. The flower is suitable for creating a hotel because of its simplicity, and it is easy to divide the rooms for the hotel. Research on boutique hotel (Edited)

This post will be about my research on boutique hotels. The simplest definition of a boutique hotel is “a small, sophisticated, and fashionable business or establishment“. (Giulietta, 2024) Boutique hotels are mainly for people who travel for a short time and want a personalised experience during their stay. The boutique hotel interests me because of its size and the difference in experience compared to a typical hotel. The main reason behind this is that boutique hotels have better quality control, ensuring the guest experiences a comfortable stay. The attention to detail in these hotels' design makes them unique. Boutique hotels are usually made to be one-of-a-kind (WOOLF, 2023) and with that being stylish and trendy. Their designs are more towards elegance and luxury, but the prices are still reasonable.
