Initial Research: Frank Lloyd Wright

I am working on an architecture project where I am designing a modern treehouse and studying the works of Frank Lloyd Wright. Frank Lloyd Wright was a renowned architect who created buildings that blended harmoniously with their surroundings. He famously promoted the "organic architecture" concept, which focused on designing buildings in sync with nature. His significant achievements included his innovative designs and efficient space utilisation. Wright is considered the "greatest American architect of all time" (by the American Institute of Architects) after spending seven decades in the field before he died in 1959. (2023) Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation

During Wright's time, most Americans preferred European-style buildings, which he found unacceptable. He believed architecture was the "mother of all the arts" and should reflect and celebrate the country's unique character, landscape, people, and democratic ideals. Wright's love for his country and passion for promoting genuinely American architecture remained with him throughout his life.

This is a one-story design with no attic to reduce space and cost. The kitchen, living and dining areas blend in a single open space, with large windows accentuating the spaciousness. The central living space spans a 40-foot-wide ravine. The bedroom wing culminates in a master suite on the ground level. The Affleck family lived here until the early 1970s, and in 1978, they donated the house to Lawrence Technological University as an educational resource.

Fallingwater, a masterpiece by Frank Lloyd Wright, is a unique architectural gem. It is built using reinforced concrete "trays" anchored to natural rock and cantilevered terraces made of local sandstone that seem to float above the stream. The living room, dining room, and first-floor entry merge into one open space, with glass walls providing a stunning landscape view. In 1938, Wright designed additional guest quarters on the hillside above the main house. The Kaufmann family donated the property and surrounding land to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy in 1963, which opened it as a museum in 1964. Fallingwater has welcomed over five million visitors.(2023) Encyclopædia Britannica

The research on Frank Lloyd Wright's work is beneficial in understanding my project. The modern and natural concept that Wright uses is very similar to my idea for my project. I deeply admire Wright's work and how he perceives different perspectives and brings his ideas to life.

Research on the National Flower Of United Arab Emirates

For this post, I will share my research about the national flower of The United Arab Emirates, the Tribulus Omannense. I will create a boutique hotel in Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai, for my project. I will symbolise the country with the nation's flower, Tribulus Omannense. Since a boutique hotel is targeted at travellers, the concept of my hotel is inspired by the flower. Tribulus Omanense is a small flowering plant in the Zygophyllaceae family. Its delicate, yellow flowers have five petals and a distinct, spiky appearance (Anne, A. 2023). The flower is suitable for creating a hotel because of its simplicity, and it is easy to divide the rooms for the hotel. Since it has five petals, I made each petal a section for the hotel, for example, a lobby section and the rest of the rooms for each petal. Each petal will be enough to fit two hotel rooms. Although the number of rooms in my boutique hotel will be small, this will ensure a more personalised service to the customers, and the h...

WEEK SIX: Contacts

This is my contact page where you can reach out to me. I have listed the location of my workplace, which is the Art Factory. As I haven't decided whether to add my phone number or not, I have included a random number for now. You can contact me through my email address, and my website links such as Blogger and Instagram are also provided. This page which contains my contacts is a new page that I did and a button that leads to the page. The image above is a lightbox that I added at the very bottom of all of my pages.

Research on boutique hotel (Edited)

This post will be about my research on boutique hotels. The simplest definition of a boutique hotel is “a small, sophisticated, and fashionable business or establishment“. (Giulietta, 2024) Boutique hotels are mainly for people who travel for a short time and want a personalised experience during their stay. The boutique hotel interests me because of its size and the difference in experience compared to a typical hotel. The main reason behind this is that boutique hotels have better quality control, ensuring the guest experiences a comfortable stay. The attention to detail in these hotels' design makes them unique. Boutique hotels are usually made to be one-of-a-kind (WOOLF, 2023) and with that being stylish and trendy. Their designs are more towards elegance and luxury, but the prices are still reasonable. This is suitable for my project as the location for it is in Dubai. A developing country where there are a lot of travellers and tourists passing through. Also, Dubai is known f...
