Initial Research: Zaha Hadid

Zaha Hadid, an Iraqi-British architect who passed away in 2016, had an immense impact on architecture. She designed many iconic structures that are now part of major cities' skylines. Additionally, her product designs, which include furniture, jewellery, lighting, and shoes, are widely used in homes worldwide. Hadid was known for pushing the boundaries of convention in her designs and is widely regarded as the most famous female architect of her time. She received many prestigious awards throughout her career, including the 2004 Pritzker Architecture Prize, the 2010 and 2011 Stirling Prize, the 2014 Design Museum Design of the Year Award for her Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center, and the 2015 RIBA Gold Medal. ((2023) Architectural Digest)

One of the architects who has inspired me is Zaha Hadid. Her work mainly comprises modern and organic forms, and she is unafraid to showcase her unique designs. Her work also includes more modernised designs, which I really love. Modern design is more minimalistic and easy to look at, yet fascinating and exciting at the same time.

The image above depicts one of Zaha Hadid's works. Although it is not a building, the curvy lines, shapes, and materials give the yacht an elegant look.

“As a dynamic object that moves in dynamic environments, the design of a yacht must incorporate additional parameters beyond those for architecture—which all become much more extreme on water,” Hadid said in a previous statement. “Each yacht is an engineered platform that integrates specific hydrodynamic and structural demands together with the highest levels of comfort, spatial quality, and safety.” (Zaha Hadid, 2019)

Zaha Hadid fearlessly expresses and showcases her unique and intricate designs, proving that anything can be considered art. Her hardworking nature and unwavering dedication to architecture are truly remarkable and inspiring. She sets an example that anything one designs is something to be proud of.

Zaha Hadid is one of the most inspiring architects in the world due to her exceptional mindset and the courage she exhibits in overcoming challenges in architecture. Her unique and beautiful designs capture people's attention, and her futuristic and elegant approach makes them suitable for the future.

Research on the National Flower Of United Arab Emirates

For this post, I will share my research about the national flower of The United Arab Emirates, the Tribulus Omannense. I will create a boutique hotel in Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai, for my project. I will symbolise the country with the nation's flower, Tribulus Omannense. Since a boutique hotel is targeted at travellers, the concept of my hotel is inspired by the flower. Tribulus Omanense is a small flowering plant in the Zygophyllaceae family. Its delicate, yellow flowers have five petals and a distinct, spiky appearance (Anne, A. 2023). The flower is suitable for creating a hotel because of its simplicity, and it is easy to divide the rooms for the hotel. Since it has five petals, I made each petal a section for the hotel, for example, a lobby section and the rest of the rooms for each petal. Each petal will be enough to fit two hotel rooms. Although the number of rooms in my boutique hotel will be small, this will ensure a more personalised service to the customers, and the h...

This page which contains my contacts is a new page that I did and a button that leads to the page. The image above is a lightbox that I added at the very bottom of all of my pages.

Research on boutique hotel (Edited)

This post will be about my research on boutique hotels. The simplest definition of a boutique hotel is “a small, sophisticated, and fashionable business or establishment“. (Giulietta, 2024) Boutique hotels are mainly for people who travel for a short time and want a personalised experience during their stay. The boutique hotel interests me because of its size and the difference in experience compared to a typical hotel. The main reason behind this is that boutique hotels have better quality control, ensuring the guest experiences a comfortable stay. The attention to detail in these hotels' design makes them unique. Boutique hotels are usually made to be one-of-a-kind (WOOLF, 2023) and with that being stylish and trendy. Their designs are more towards elegance and luxury, but the prices are still reasonable. This is suitable for my project as the location for it is in Dubai. A developing country where there are a lot of travellers and tourists passing through. Also, Dubai is known f...
