WEEK THREE: SMART OBJECTIVE

SMART OBJECTIVE

Now that I have written down my initial ideas, I can create SMART objectives to guide me in completing this project.

For my architecture project, I will be designing a modern treehouse for a residential area located in Malaysia. The treehouse will be built using the trees in a forest as the foundation, and sustainable materials will be used for the house. The chosen materials will feature a modern look and be able to withstand different weather conditions like heat waves and thunderstorms, ensuring the tree lasts long and is safe for the residents. I plan to create 2-4 architectural design boards, including the concept and concept drawings, floor plans, elevations, site details, environmental factors, and a 3D design made in Sketchup software. The project will be completed by the deadline at the end of November.

Research on the National Flower Of United Arab Emirates

For this post, I will share my research about the national flower of The United Arab Emirates, the Tribulus Omannense. I will create a boutique hotel in Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai, for my project. I will symbolise the country with the nation's flower, Tribulus Omannense. Since a boutique hotel is targeted at travellers, the concept of my hotel is inspired by the flower. Tribulus Omanense is a small flowering plant in the Zygophyllaceae family. Its delicate, yellow flowers have five petals and a distinct, spiky appearance (Anne, A. 2023). The flower is suitable for creating a hotel because of its simplicity, and it is easy to divide the rooms for the hotel. Since it has five petals, I made each petal a section for the hotel, for example, a lobby section and the rest of the rooms for each petal. Each petal will be enough to fit two hotel rooms. This post will be about my research on boutique hotels. The simplest definition of a boutique hotel is “a small, sophisticated, and fashionable business or establishment“. (Giulietta, 2024) Boutique hotels are mainly for people who travel for a short time and want a personalised experience during their stay. The boutique hotel interests me because of its size and the difference in experience compared to a typical hotel. The main reason behind this is that boutique hotels have better quality control, ensuring the guest experiences a comfortable stay. The attention to detail in these hotels' design makes them unique. Boutique hotels are usually made to be one-of-a-kind (WOOLF, 2023) and with that being stylish and trendy. Their designs are more towards elegance and luxury, but the prices are still reasonable.
