Style of Architecture.
The word 'treehouse' and the phrase 'tree house' can be used interchangeably. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, a treehouse is "a structure built in the branches of a tree for children to play in." The Treehouse Guide, a website dedicated to treehouse construction, provides a more detailed definition. It states that a treehouse is "a structure built in or around a tree which interacts with and relies upon the tree for its support. It consists of a roofed platform that defines a sheltered space which may be fully enclosed for protection from the elements." (The Treehouse Guide, 2023)
The amount of ground support allowed for a structure to be called a treehouse is a matter of debate among builders. Some believe that a treehouse must be entirely supported by the tree, while others argue that some ground support is acceptable as long as the structure primarily relies on the tree. The Treehouse Guide refers to a structure built next to a tree on posts fixed in the ground as a playhouse because it can exist without the tree's support.
Tree houses are often characterized by being vertical, upright, raised, and tall, and these features are also reflected in loft-style architecture."Since trees are naturally vertical in shape and often incorporated into the physical structure of a tree-house, most tree-houses are built with a vertical, upright aesthetic." For my major term project, I will adopt a modern architectural style for the new generation buildings. The main objective is to create a modernized treehouse that carries on an old childhood experience to the future generation. The new generation will be more attracted and pleased with the building's modern design.
The image presented above is a preliminary representation of the architectural style I intend to follow for my project. I plan to use smooth materials and wooden walls to create a comforting atmosphere. Additionally, I will install large windows to allow people to enjoy the surrounding view. It is also crucial for the foundation's supporting beams to be made of solid and reliable materials, such as steel, reinforced concrete, or reinforced polymeric materials.
