Term 1 Reflective Post

Throughout this term, I have gained much valuable experience and learned much from the Digital Arts module. Over ten weeks, I acquired knowledge and skills related to digital arts, such as creating a blog, photography, creating websites, and using various useful software when I start my studies at DMU.

As an international student, gaining experience and new knowledge before entering university is essential. It can be a challenge to get used to a new environment. While studying digital arts, I enjoyed designing my project using multiple software programs, including Blogger, SketchUp, HomeByMe and CiteThisForMe. I used these to record, post, reference, design, and build my project using 3D software.

As part of my research, I came across various materials that I could use for my project, including wood, stones, and bricks. Furthermore, I discovered different architectural styles from multiple architects, such as the minimalist style by Zaha Hadid and the organic style by Ken Yeang, which involves integrating the design with the natural surroundings.

I made multiple mistakes during my time in digital arts; however, they have helped me improve as a student and as a person. The most challenging part was balancing all my assignments because each assignment had a different amount of work and deadline. Fortunately, I have made many connections throughout my ten weeks as a DMUIC student, which have helped me understand more and improve my work. Overall, I am grateful for the opportunity to study abroad. If I could go back in time and change anything, I would not change a single moment. With my mistakes, I learned something new and improved as a person. As my wise father once said, "Be grateful for what you have, done and said. It could always be worse."

Research on the National Flower Of United Arab Emirates

For this post, I will share my research about the national flower of The United Arab Emirates, the Tribulus Omannense. I will create a boutique hotel in Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai, for my project. I will symbolise the country with the nation's flower, Tribulus Omannense. Since a boutique hotel is targeted at travellers, the concept of my hotel is inspired by the flower. Tribulus Omanense is a small flowering plant in the Zygophyllaceae family. Its delicate, yellow flowers have five petals and a distinct, spiky appearance (Anne, A. 2023). The flower is suitable for creating a hotel because of its simplicity, and it is easy to divide the rooms for the hotel. Since it has five petals, I made each petal a section for the hotel, for example, a lobby section and the rest of the rooms for each petal. Each petal will be enough to fit two hotel rooms. Although the number of rooms in my boutique hotel will be small, this will ensure a more personalised service to the customers, and the h...

WEEK SIX: Contacts

This is my contact page where you can reach out to me. I have listed the location of my workplace, which is the Art Factory. As I haven't decided whether to add my phone number or not, I have included a random number for now. You can contact me through my email address, and my website links such as Blogger and Instagram are also provided. This page which contains my contacts is a new page that I did and a button that leads to the page. The image above is a lightbox that I added at the very bottom of all of my pages.

Research on boutique hotel (Edited)

This post will be about my research on boutique hotels. The simplest definition of a boutique hotel is “a small, sophisticated, and fashionable business or establishment“. (Giulietta, 2024) Boutique hotels are mainly for people who travel for a short time and want a personalised experience during their stay. The boutique hotel interests me because of its size and the difference in experience compared to a typical hotel. The main reason behind this is that boutique hotels have better quality control, ensuring the guest experiences a comfortable stay. The attention to detail in these hotels' design makes them unique. Boutique hotels are usually made to be one-of-a-kind (WOOLF, 2023) and with that being stylish and trendy. Their designs are more towards elegance and luxury, but the prices are still reasonable. This is suitable for my project as the location for it is in Dubai. A developing country where there are a lot of travellers and tourists passing through. Also, Dubai is known f...
