Project Statement

For my AP1 project, I will create a commercial establishment, a boutique hotel -inspired by The Cave, a rammed-earth Stone Villa in Mexico. The project will take place in an eight-week period. The hotel’s theme is the Primitive, aimed at vacationers for short stays. I will be using materials that can be found in the desert around Dubai to construct the hotel. This project includes a sketch, a floor plan, and a physical and digital 3D outcome. The project is called the Primal Boutique. The project will also include all the facilities inside a normal hotel, such as a restaurant, a pool, and a gymnasium. The hotel will also have a symbolic structure on top of its highest building. This will give the resort its own unique identity. The 3D outcome will be made using mixed media and materials that are like the textures that can be found in the desert. During the project, I will be sharpening my digital skills in SketchUp alongside my drawing and 3D making.

    Add an image of the Cave - also one of the drawings you made from the development session - if this is going to be the symbolic element on top of the hotel, include an image here to show us what you are thinking of please!

I will create a boutique hotel in Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai, for my project. I will symbolise the country with the nation's flower, Tribulus Omannense. Research on boutique hotel (Edited)

This post will be about my research on boutique hotels. The simplest definition of a boutique hotel is “a small, sophisticated, and fashionable business or establishment“. (Giulietta, 2024) Boutique hotels are mainly for people who travel for a short time and want a personalised experience during their stay. The boutique hotel interests me because of its size and the difference in experience compared to a typical hotel. The main reason behind this is that boutique hotels have better quality control, ensuring the guest experiences a comfortable stay. The attention to detail in these hotels' design makes them unique. Boutique hotels are usually made to be one-of-a-kind (WOOLF, 2023) and with that being stylish and trendy. Their designs are more towards elegance and luxury, but the prices are still reasonable.
