Welcome to Spring Term 2024

Welcome to Spring Term 2024

Welcome to the Spring Term for 2024. I am writing this blog as the beginning point for this new term.

For this term, I am looking forward to learning new skills while strengthening the ones I developed in the last term in 2023. For instance, I would like to learn about new software that can help me in future projects and build up my digital skills. I am not quite satisfied with the outcome of my last term's drawings and sketches, and I am interested in improving my skills. Improving this will majorly help me to produce a better outcome for this term's project. As for my digital skills, I have been using Photoshop, SketchUp and Pixlr. However, I barely touch the surface of mastering this software. Therefore, I intend to sharpen my skills and explore new software such as Live Home 3D and AutoCAD that will be useful in the long run.

During the holidays, I watched the movie "The Pyramid" with my friends and it inspired me to look into the architecture of Egypt's Pyramids. Pyramids are monumental structures built of stone or brick with a rectangular base and four sloping triangular sides meeting at an apex. They were built in various countries including Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, western Asia, Greece, Cyprus, Italy, India, Thailand, Mexico, South America, and the Pacific Ocean islands. The pyramids in Egypt were funerary edifices and were built over a period of 2,700 years. During the Old Kingdom, the pyramid was the usual type of royal tomb and was always part of an architectural complex. (Encyclopedia Britannica, 2023)

Research on the National Flower Of United Arab Emirates

For this post, I will share my research about the national flower of The United Arab Emirates, the Tribulus Omannense. I will create a boutique hotel in Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai, for my project. I will symbolise the country with the nation's flower, Tribulus Omannense. Since a boutique hotel is targeted at travellers, the concept of my hotel is inspired by the flower. Tribulus Omanense is a small flowering plant in the Zygophyllaceae family. Its delicate, yellow flowers have five petals and a distinct, spiky appearance (Anne, A. 2023). The flower is suitable for creating a hotel because of its simplicity, and it is easy to divide the rooms for the hotel. Since it has five petals, I made each petal a section for the hotel, for example, a lobby section and the rest of the rooms for each petal. Each petal will be enough to fit two hotel rooms. Although the number of rooms in my boutique hotel will be small, this will ensure a more personalised service to the customers, and the h...

WEEK SIX: Contacts

This is my contact page where you can reach out to me. I have listed the location of my workplace, which is the Art Factory. As I haven't decided whether to add my phone number or not, I have included a random number for now. You can contact me through my email address, and my website links such as Blogger and Instagram are also provided. This page which contains my contacts is a new page that I did and a button that leads to the page. The image above is a lightbox that I added at the very bottom of all of my pages.

Research on boutique hotel (Edited)

This post will be about my research on boutique hotels. The simplest definition of a boutique hotel is “a small, sophisticated, and fashionable business or establishment“. (Giulietta, 2024) Boutique hotels are mainly for people who travel for a short time and want a personalised experience during their stay. The boutique hotel interests me because of its size and the difference in experience compared to a typical hotel. The main reason behind this is that boutique hotels have better quality control, ensuring the guest experiences a comfortable stay. The attention to detail in these hotels' design makes them unique. Boutique hotels are usually made to be one-of-a-kind (WOOLF, 2023) and with that being stylish and trendy. Their designs are more towards elegance and luxury, but the prices are still reasonable. This is suitable for my project as the location for it is in Dubai. A developing country where there are a lot of travellers and tourists passing through. Also, Dubai is known f...
