Term Reflection (Edited)

This post will reflect on the term's project and my experiences.

During this term, I have been exposed to more architectural work, which has built my personality and momentum to continue towards the next term. The experiences will be valuable and memorable as they contain all my hard work and dedication to complete this term's project. As far as it goes, I have faced difficulties such as catching up with my studies and maintaining a healthy mindset to stay caught up on something I put my hard work into. I learned new ways of using software such as Adobe Photoshop and Pixlr. I also learned to manage my time correctly to complete the project before the deadline. Ways to take good photos, and how to use different materials such as wood and plastic, and used them in my own project to create a final outcome. Although I was not entirely satisfied with my outcomes, because of this, I would keep in mind that I should manage time more efficiently in the future. Unfortunately, I have not managed to get up to date with my project plan, causing many issues for me in the future. I also did not accomplish what I wished at the start of the term, such as being more punctual and focused on my work. Despite the problems, I have decided to work on my mistakes and improve for the upcoming term. I will avoid making my mistakes in this term and use them to my advantage to learn from them.

I am looking forward to facing the upcoming term from a different perspective.

Research on the National Flower Of United Arab Emirates

For this post, I will share my research about the national flower of The United Arab Emirates, the Tribulus Omannense. I will create a boutique hotel in Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai, for my project. I will symbolise the country with the nation's flower, Tribulus Omannense. Since a boutique hotel is targeted at travellers, the concept of my hotel is inspired by the flower. Tribulus Omanense is a small flowering plant in the Zygophyllaceae family. Its delicate, yellow flowers have five petals and a distinct, spiky appearance (Anne, A. 2023). The flower is suitable for creating a hotel because of its simplicity, and it is easy to divide the rooms for the hotel. Since it has five petals, I made each petal a section for the hotel, for example, a lobby section and the rest of the rooms for each petal. Each petal will be enough to fit two hotel rooms. This post will be about my research on boutique hotels. The simplest definition of a boutique hotel is “a small, sophisticated, and fashionable business or establishment“. (Giulietta, 2024) Boutique hotels are mainly for people who travel for a short time and want a personalised experience during their stay. The boutique hotel interests me because of its size and the difference in experience compared to a typical hotel. The main reason behind this is that boutique hotels have better quality control, ensuring the guest experiences a comfortable stay. The attention to detail in these hotels' design makes them unique. Boutique hotels are usually made to be one-of-a-kind (WOOLF, 2023) and with that being stylish and trendy. Their designs are more towards elegance and luxury, but the prices are still reasonable.
